Orton Estate, River Spey

Orton Estate is in an idyllic rural setting beside the River Spey, one of Scotland's most famous salmon fishing rivers, right in the heart of Scotch Whisky country, and close to many of Scotland's famous castles and golf courses. The comfortable and elegantly furnished lodges make an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area.

ACCOMMODATION
The estate has five country lodges, all located near the picturesque River Spey in the heart of Moray. The largest, Darnethills, can sleep up to 11 guests, while the remainder sleep between 7 and 8. The two St Mary's lodges or the two Bruntlands lodges can be rented together, allowing parties of up to 16 to be catered for in either of the main lodges. Our chefs, who specialise in preparing locally produced food, can accommodate every dietary requirement. The lodges also have their own liquor licenses. Alternatively you may prefer to be independent, in which case any of the lodges can be rented on a fully serviced basis if you wish to provide your own professional cook.

FISHING
The Orton water lies about 8 miles upstream from the mouth of the River Spey, one of Britain's best known salmon rivers. The chance to fish on an exclusively owned stretch of this premier river must surely represent the pinnacle of an angler's ambition! Set in the stunning scenery of the Spey valley, the Orton beats have produced salmon of up to 46lbs, and one of our experienced ghillies will be on hand at all times to help you to fish either from the bank or from one of our traditional boats. The fishing is usually let by the week, but it is often possible to incorporate just a day or two, or even a part day, as part of a week's activities at Orton. The season runs from February to the end of September.
