Shiel Lodge

The lodge is set in a magnificent location in Shiel Forest, an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by mature grounds.

The lodge is very well placed for access to what must be some of the best hill walking in the country. The Kintail range of hills is visible from the lodge.

Fishing and stalking is available on the estate and locally by arrangement. Skye is easily accessible (approximately 18 miles to the bridge) and with the scenery and many local attractions the lodge makes an ideal base for touring and sightseeing.

Of course, should you wish to do little but relax, the comfortable surroundings of the lodge will allow you to unwind or indeed enjoy time with family and friends. Due to the size of the lodge it would make an ideal location for large gatherings for special occasions.

ACCOMMODATION

The property is a traditional highland shooting/holiday lodge which has been recently renovated to a very high standard. The accommodation is spacious, arranged over two floors and comfortably furnished.

Ground floor: drawing room, sitting room, formal dining room, breakfast room, kitchen & pantry (with oil fired Aga, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge & freezer), drying room, laundry (with washing machine & tumble dryer), 2 shower rooms each with WC.

First floor: 4 twin bedrooms, 4 single bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a shower room with WC. The first floor is accessed via two separate staircases.

FISHING

Fishing for salmon and sea trout is available on the Glenshiel Estate on the River Shiel and on the loch through which the river passes. Fishing may be rented with the lodge and is available between the beginning of July and the 15th of October, with the best fishing through late July and August.

Up to four rods can fish at any one time and fishing is normally restricted to fly only. Fishing by other methods may be permitted under certain conditions and spinning is advisable in some of the more wooded pools. If the fishing has not been let by the week to lodge tenants or others, it is possible to purchase day tickets.

STALKING

Deer stalking is available by arrangement. Stalking of stags is available between September and late October. From late October, the stalking of hinds is available and the price would be by agreement with the managing agent.
